Bloodmeal

I think climate change is the most important thing happening in the world right now. I don’t always make art about climate change, but most of my art relates to the stress of climate change. For most of my life I have been aware of climate change and witnessed minimal action. Instead of solving the issue we continue to dig ourselves deeper. The majority of people just seem to accept that it's going to happen and there's nothing that can be done. We are already seeing its effects.

I think most art that discusses climate change does not do much to help the issue. Mostly because it is usually shown to a small group of people who already agree with the message and the message is usually just that climate change is a problem. In my opinion successful climate art has to be part of pop culture or do something more than just pointing out problems. I don’t think art is responsible for solving climate change or even has the ability to, but I do think it has a responsibility to acknowledge it. What I think art can do is give people mental, spiritual and emotional strength and perspective.
