Have you ever been called a pansy? Do bears only live in the wilderness? Why are all the queers living in the forest
I view the degradation of the environment as a site for visual metaphors of discomfort. A pervasive uneasiness that manifests in many ways; through the body, through disrupted ecologies, through gender dysphoria and through dissonance. Working with 35, 120 mm color film as well as digital photography, I photograph the imaginary place where intersections between queer and ecological jargon serve as a catalyst for a recontextualization of “the natural world”. Words that serve as a playful in-between such as dyke (dike), bear, and fairy are a few examples of this language.
So I ask again, do bears only live in the wilderness?
