Xinhui Zhou

geometric and organic

I am always interested in the collaborations within forms, structures and spaces, and how they combine with craftsmanship to jewelry art. Most of my work celebrates and explores the interactions between geometric and organic forms and balances their visual collisions. I like the idea of controlling and not being controlled, and using geometric forms to control organic forms, or the opposite way. My designs propose structural and spatial variations with simple modular elements that often juxtapose plain surfaces, clean lines, and individual points with organic forms, textures and variety. I pay close attention to multi-dimensional jewelry objects and structures that interact with three dimensional body. I am interested in the forms that I make being integrated into the body, instead of being on the surface decorations. I want to make jewelry that is alive, responsive, dynamic and intensively engaged with our natural bodies.
